Race Day Granola

Here is the recipe from today’s granola that we enjoyed

Lori’s
Race Day Granola :  2 cups each,  rolled oats, rice crispies, Cheerios.  3 cups branflakes cereal.  1 cup each, chopped almonds, chopped pecans, chopped walnuts. 1 cup pepitas.  1 cup flax seed.  1 1/2 tsp. Salt. 1 1/2 cups dried fruit.   Mix in a really large bowl.  Then, in a sauce pot put 1 cup light olive oil,  1 cup honey, 1/2 cup dark brown sugar,  1 Tbl. Sp. Grnd. Cinnamon, and 1 Tbl. Sp.  Vanilla or orange extract.  Bring to a good boil over medium heat.   Pour over the dry ingredients and stir to coat well.  Pour out onto a large lined cookie sheet or two.  Lightly press to about 3/4 to 1 inch thickness and bake in a preheated 325 oven for 20 to 25 minutes.  Let cool before breaking into big clumps.  (A thinner layer will give you a crispier granola).  Glad you liked it.  Lori Clay :-)

Saving our children

Yesterday Bishop John Yambasu of Sierra Lionne said, “Imagine No Malaria is about Africa’s future because malaria is killing our children.” Tomorrow we save the lives of those children. You can help in one of three ways:
1. Join us for the Run/Walk from Malaria 5K, we will start at the Hoffmantown Church parking lot at 9am. You can register at the event tomorrow morning or online at http://www.active.com/albuquerque-nm/running/races/run-from-malaria-2013
2. Volunteer to help (message me)
3. Make a donation by registering for this event. Even if you can’t make it, you can still make a difference. For the cost of registration you will get a cool shirt and save two lives.

Race day is almost here!

Thank you for your participation in the 3rd Annual Run/Walk from Malaria 5K and for making a difference. The weather forecast for Saturday is for a sunny day so I am looking forward to a great event. Here is the schedule:

Packet pickup is available at Athletes Edge running shop (7120 Wyoming Blvd, next to Del Norte Sports and Wellness) on Thursday and Friday from 10am to 6pm.You can also do packet pickup the morning of the race.

The race will start and finish in the Hoffmantown Church parking lot. We will start in the north east corner of the parking lot and run/walk around the exterior perimeter of the Albuquerque Academy. There will be an information booth from Pro Nutrition and Health, an aid station at the halfway point, the event will be timed and there will be food after the race.

If you know anyone else who would like to join, registration is still open at http://www.active.com/albuquerque-nm/running/races/run-from-malaria-2013. People can register online through Friday or Saturday morning before the race.

Thank you again for your participation. Every participant will not only have fun and receive a t-shirt, but every participant saves two lives.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
